Many schools routinely highlight their merits and strengths via various mediums in the public domain that are instrumental in creating the desired perceptions of their institutions. However, whilst advertising permits the creation of an impressive visual and written representation of a school, conveying its essence, the abstract quality that truly defines it, is a somewhat more challenging endeavour.
Eight staff members have served our school for more than twenty years, with one currently exceeding thirty years of service. This includes three teachers who are even more passionate and motivated today than they were when they started their careers. Such loyalty is only evident in working environments that are happy, afford regular opportunities for personal expression and growth and in which mutual love and respect abound.

The prevailing culture in a school and the impact this has on the efficacy of teaching and learning is a crucial indicator of success, arguably more so than an impressive array of physical amenities and academic, sporting and cultural options. Although John Wesley School is blessed with incredible facilities, our fundamental belief is that the essence of our success, and our most important defining feature, is our Christian ethos and the prevailing staff culture that it has engendered.
Like any good school, we have a very clearly defined hierarchy to manage and coordinate daily operations, however, the lines of authority become blurred when our colleagues interact with each other on a personal level. No matter what your designation, be it principal, teacher, administrator or general assistant, we all share in each other’s joys and triumphs, we support each other through hardship and we mourn each other’s losses.
This attitude manifests in the demeanour of our staff members and is massively influential in our classrooms as we pursue our collective mission to produce remarkable young men and women, who are not just academics, but compassionate individuals who are capable of transforming society.
If our staff members are the calibre of men and women you wish to entrust with your child’s intellectual, emotional and spiritual development, then John Wesley School is the natural choice for you.
