The John Wesley School community mourns the loss of two valued friends, spiritual leaders and servants of our wider Methodist family.
Reverend Sibusiso (S’bu) Sangweni and Reverend Brenda Timmer both passed away in 2026 following periods of serious illness. Each played an important role in the life of Pinetown Methodist Church and in strengthening the bond between the Church and John Wesley School.
We remember them with deep gratitude for their faith, compassion, leadership and service.
Reverend Sibusiso (S’bu) Sangweni
15 September 1958 – 21 July 2026
John Wesley School remembers Reverend S’bu Sangweni with great affection and appreciation.
During his ministry at Pinetown Methodist Church, Reverend S’bu played an important role in strengthening the relationship between the Church and the school. He understood that Christian education is about far more than academic achievement. It is also about shaping character, nurturing faith and helping young people grow into compassionate and responsible members of society.
Reverend S’bu was a man of deep compassion and steadfast faith. His presence brought encouragement, wisdom and spiritual leadership to the John Wesley School community.
He understood the special place our school holds within the Methodist family and strongly supported its mission to provide quality education within a caring Christian environment.
While we mourn his passing, we also give thanks for a life devoted to faith and service. His influence will continue to be felt in the lives of those he touched, and his contribution to the st
ory of John Wesley School will be remembered with sincere gratitude.
May his memory be a blessing, and may his legacy of faith, love and service continue to inspire us.
Reverend Brenda Timmer
21 February 1971 – 1 September 2026
John Wesley School remembers Reverend Brenda Timmer with profound gratitude for the contribution she made during her ministry at Pinetown Methodist Church.
Reverend Brenda understood the important connection between faith, education and community. She was a valued supporter of John Wesley School and of the Christian ethos and mission that remain at the heart of our school.
Her ministry was characterised by warmth, compassion and a genuine desire to serve others. She reached beyond the walls of the Church and responded to the needs of the wider community with generosity, kindness and practical Christian love.
For John Wesley School, Reverend Brenda’s passing is the loss of a treasured friend and spiritual partner. We give thanks for the encouragement, care and Christian witness she shared with our school community and for the difference she made in the lives of those she served.
May she rest in God’s eternal peace, and may her legacy of love, faith and service live on.
