Dear Parents and Guardians
On Wednesday, 22 June 2022, the Minister of Health, Dr. Mathume Phaahla, issued a Government Gazette repealing certain sections of the Regulations Relating to the Surveillance and Control of Notifiable Medical Conditions promulgated in terms of the National Health Act 61 of 2003.
Regulation 16A, the wearing of face masks in indoor public spaces and on public transport, has been repealed, and therefore, with effect from Tuesday 19 July 2022, the first day of the 3rd term, all staff and learners at John Wesley School will no longer be required by law to wear face masks on the school premises, be it inside or outside the classrooms. Please note that this relaxation will not be enforced at John Wesley School. We respect the right of parents and guardians to make their own decisions regarding the health of their children and therefore, if parents and guardians want their children to continue wearing face masks next term, they are welcome to do so.
Thank you.
Yours sincerely
Mr. D. Tarr
Principal
