    A helping hand . . .

When our Principal, Mr Darron Tarr asked the John Wesley School learners and families to help the Pinetown and Highway Child and Family Welfare Society, with a grocery item, he was confident that his call for help would be heard.

This request to our John Wesley School community followed an appeal published in the Highway Mail in April, announcing that the food stores of the Child and Family Welfare Society were running seriously low and that this was impacting on their ability to help the less fortunate.

The John Wesley School learners, parents and staff supported the initiative and donated soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, canned food, rice, porridge, nappies and other non-perishable food items to the society’s food stores.

Two supermarket trollies, filled to the brim were handed over to the society recently.

We are proud to say that our John Wesley School community rose to the challenge, and we in turn would like to challenge all the Highway schools and businesses to do the same.

The Pinetown and Highway Child and Family Welfare Society, has a very important role in supporting those who are less fortunate than us. The society’s stocks should never run this low again! Mrs Attwell can be contacted on 031 701 3288.
