On March 6th, 2025, John Wesley School transformed into a vibrant storybook wonderland as learners and teachers stepped into the shoes—sometimes quite literally!—of their favourite book characters.
From fairytale figures to modern heroes, our Foundation Phase was a whirlwind of creativity, colour, and a shared love for reading.
Book Character Day isn’t just about dressing up; it’s a global celebration of literature and storytelling. Established in 1995 as a UNESCO initiative, the day encourages people of all ages to explore new adventures through books. With support from publishers, booksellers, and libraries, it inspires a lifelong love of reading.
This annual event is a firm favourite at John Wesley School, and this year was no exception! The classrooms buzzed with excitement as learners showcased
their literary-inspired outfits. Teachers joined in, proving you’re never too old for a good story!
Beyond the costumes, the day was packed with activities to foster a love for reading. Storytelling sessions, book swaps, and creative writing challenges kept learners engaged, sparking new interests in different genres.
Principal Mr. Darron Tarr shared, “Books have the power to transport us, teach us, and spark our imaginations. World Book Day reminds us all—young and old—of the joy that reading brings.”
As the day ended, one thing was clear: the love for books at John Wesley School is alive and thriving. Whether diving into an adventure, solving a mystery, or exploring new worlds, every learner left with a renewed passion for reading.
